The Mitchell Museum displays three main categories of art: Western Art, Devotional Art, and Historic Photographs. A. R. Mitchell's paintings are fine examples of western art, ranging from paintings to illustration work done for the western pulp novels popular in his day.

Harvey Dunn was Arthur Roy Mitchell's art teacher at Grand Central Art School in New York City, and a famous painter in his own right. He became a lifelong friend of Mitchell's and spent many summers in Trinidad, painting the landscapes and western scenes...
