as:

the famous!

The museum features over 350 of Arthur Roy Mitchell's paintings.
"The Mitch" also houses a selection of works by his mentors, friends and contemporaries, including Harvey Dunn, Harold Von Schmidt, Nick Eggenhoffer, Larry Heller, Grant Reynard and Ned Jacob.

An extraordinary collection of Spanish colonial folk art is on display in the main floor gallery. This diverse collection includes devotional works, decorative items and furniture.  Featured are bultos, retablos and tin work created in the early 1900's by now famous "santeros".  An elk hide painting, believed to have been painted by Franciscan monks, dates to the early 1700's and serves as the centerpiece for the exhibit.  Numerous Penitente artifacts and religious images are displayed in this remarkable collection.

The Mitchell Museum boasts a fine collection of historic photographs by Trinidad native O. E Aultman, and his contemporaries, Benjamin Wittick, and Almeron Newman.  Currently on exhibit is a collection of antique cameras, selected Ben Wittick photos, Newman's panoramic photographs, and the "Century of Commerce" exhibit featuring O. E Aultman and his son Glen Aultman's photographs spanning 100 years!
